Washington, DC – Capitol Funding Solutions (CFS) is pleased to announce that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has approved the Louisiana Department of Health’s (LDH) $208 million allocation for Fiscal Year 2026 through the Rural Health Transformation (RHT) Program. Initially announced in December 2025, this approval permits LDH to begin implementing the first year of its five-year plan to invest in the rural healthcare delivery ecosystem.

ABOUT THE AWARD

The Louisiana Rural Health Transformation Program (LA RHTP) is a comprehensive rural health initiative to enhance access to care, strengthen healthcare delivery systems, expand workforce capacity, and advance the integration of technology across rural communities in Louisiana. Through this initiative, LDH will allocate essential resources, facilitate coordination across agencies, and support policy developments necessary to address longstanding healthcare disparities. The initiative is designed to improve the sustainability of rural healthcare providers and to ensure that rural residents, particularly those confronting chronic diseases, behavioral health issues, perinatal or postpartum risks, and cancer-related disparities, have access to high-quality care within their communities.
