Funding Opportunity:

DOE's Industrial Efficiency and Decarbonization    September 8, 2022

The Department of Energy's Industrial Efficiency and Decarbonization opportunity is open to for-profit entities, non-profit organizations, and educational entities that have a physical address and are organized in the United States. State, local and tribal governments are also eligible prime and sub-recipients. The program funds high-impact applied research and development and prototype or pilot-scale technology validation and demonstration projects that are potentially transformational to increase industrial energy efficiency and reduce energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions.

This includes cross-sector industrial carbonization approaches via opportunities in energy efficiency, industrial electrification, low carbon fuels, feedstocks and energy sources, and industrial carbon capture and utilization.

Eligible projects should be at a Technology Readiness Level of 4 or 5 (Tier One) or a Technology Readiness Level of 6 or 7 (Tier Two). Areas of Interest with maximum awards are detailed below:

Areas of Interest

1. Decarbonizing Chemicals - Tier One $3,000,000/Tier Two $10,000,000

2. Decarbonizing Iron and Steel - Tier One $4,000,000/Tier Two $10,000,000

3. Decarbonizing Food and Beverage Products - Tier One $3,000,000/Tier Two $6,000,000

4. Decarbonizing Cement and Concrete - Tier One - $4,000,000/Tier Two $10,000,000
