DOE Announces $45 Million to Improve Energy Efficiency for Nonprofit Buildings

On Wednesday, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced that applications are open for the Renew America’s Nonprofits grant, a funding opportunity that will support projects to reduce energy use in buildings owned and operated by 501(c)(3) nonprofits. This competitive grant — authorized by President Biden's Bipartisan Infrastructure Law — demonstrates a first-of-its-kind engagement between DOE and the nonprofit sector and recognizes the central role that nonprofits play in American’s lives, as well as their potential significance in the nation’s clean energy transition. By investing in nonprofits, DOE is investing in America’s physical and social infrastructure, reducing emissions and utility costs in vital institutions so that savings can be redirected to mission-critical work serving communities. 

DOT Awards $52 Million in Advanced Technology Grants to Improve Safety and Reduce Travel Times

On Thursday, DOT’s Federal Highway Administration announced more than $52 million in grants for eight states from the Advanced Transportation Technology and Innovation (ATTAIN) program. As part of President Biden’s Investing in America agenda, the grants will fund technology-based solutions that improve the travel experience for millions of Americans who use our highway and transit systems, with expanded eligibility for projects in communities that have previously lacked investments, including rural areas and areas of persistent poverty. 

U.S. Department of Labor Offers Webinar for Grantees, Applicants for Federal Grants to Increase Workplace Safety Training Programs

On Wednesday, DOL’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration will offer a webinar for grantees and potential applicants for funding opportunities and requirements for the Susan Harwood Training Grant Program. OSHA awards grants to nonprofit organizations, including qualifying community and faith-based organizations, employer associations and labor unions to provide training and education programs for employers and workers on the recognition, avoidance, and prevention of safety and health hazards in their workplaces, and to inform workers of their rights and employers of their responsibilities under the Occupational Safety and Health Act.  

NTIA Announces $4.5 Million in Internet for All Grants to Tribal Lands DOE Announces

On Wednesday, the Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) announced it has awarded grants totaling $4.5 million to 9 Tribes as part of the Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program (TBCP). With funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, these new grants bring the total of the program to over $1.77 billion awarded to 166 Tribal entities. Record investments in high-speed internet deployment are a key part of President Biden’s Investing in America agenda. 

DOE Awards $34 Million to Deploy Clean Energy Technologies in American Indian and Alaska Native Communities

On Tuesday, DOE announced $34 million in funding to advance clean energy technology in 18 American Indian and Alaska Native communities. These projects are estimated to result in more than nine megawatts of new clean energy generation and more than 6,700 megawatt-hours of battery storage, impact 1,000 tribal buildings, and save these communities more than $100 million over the life of the systems.

DOE Awards $60 Million to Advance Clean Hydrogen Technologies and Improve the Electric Power Grid

On Monday, DOE announced nearly $42 million in funding for 22 projects in 14 states to advance critical technologies for producing, storing, and deploying clean hydrogen, as well as $17.8 million to establish a new North American university research consortium that will help states and tribal communities implement grid resilience programs and achieve decarbonization goals.
