DOE Announces $38 Million to Deploy Clean Energy Technology in American Indian and Alaska Native Communities

On Thursday, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) awarded $38 million in funding for 13 projects aimed at advancing clean energy technology deployment in American Indian and Alaska Native communities. This funding will bolster ongoing efforts to reduce and stabilize energy costs, increase energy security and resilience, and provide electric power to Native communities. Through these selected projects, the Office of Indian Energy continues its efforts to strengthen Tribal energy and economic infrastructure, resource development, and electrification on Tribal lands. 

 

USDA Announces $3 Billion for Climate-Smart Practices on Agricultural Lands in 2024

On Thursday, The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced there will be more than $3 billion in funding available for agricultural producers and forest landowners nationwide to participate in voluntary conservation programs and adopt climate-smart practices in fiscal year 2024 as part of President Biden’s Investing in America agenda. The announcement comes as the Biden-Harris Administration hosts the first-ever White House Climate Resilience Summit. 

 

DOL Awards Nearly $94M To Train, Prepare Diverse Workforce for Good Jobs Created By ‘Investing In America’ Agenda

On Tuesday, The U.S. Department of Labor awarded nearly $94 million in grants to support 34 public-private partnerships to provide worker-centered sector strategy training programs in 25 states and the District of Columbia to meet workforce needs created by the Biden-Harris administration’s “Investing in America” agenda. Administered by the department’s Employment and Training Administration, the Building Pathways to Infrastructure Jobs Grant Program will help grant recipients design, develop and grow training programs and work-based learning opportunities that prepare job seekers for high-demand, high-quality career pathways in advanced manufacturing, information technology and professional, scientific, and technical service occupations. The training will support jobs in the renewable energy, transportation and broadband infrastructure sectors created through the administration’s infrastructure investments. 

 

DOT Awards $201M in BIL Funding to Improve Airport Runway Safety

On Tuesday, the U.S. Department of Transportation announced more than $201 million in Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding for airfield lighting systems at 82 airports. The projects will purchase and install new lighting for runways and taxiways to keep operations safe during reduced and low visibility and night conditions.

 

EPA Announces $235 Million Investment to Assess and Clean up Brownfield Sites Across America

On Tuesday, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the availability of $235 million in grants to assess and clean up polluted brownfield sites across the country. The new grants through EPA’s Brownfields Multipurpose, Assessment, and Cleanup (MAC) program will advance environmental justice and help transform what were once polluted, vacant, and abandoned properties into community assets while spurring economic revitalization in underserved communities. EPA anticipates awarding approximately 200 grants nationwide this cycle at amounts ranging from $500,000 to $5 million per award.  

 

FTA Awards $1.4 Billion in Infrastructure Funding for 70 Projects That Will Improve Rail Safety, Strengthen Supply Chains, and Add Passenger Rail Service

On Monday, the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) announced that it has invested more than $1.4 billion from President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law into 70 rail improvement projects in 35 states and Washington, D.C. This is the largest amount ever awarded for rail safety and rail supply chain upgrades through the Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) program. Projects selected through the CRISI program, which is four times larger since President Biden signed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, support community safety through track improvements, bridge rehabilitations, fewer highway-rail grade crossings, upgrades on routes carrying hazardous materials, and more. Selected projects also improve connectivity, reduce shipping costs, increase resiliency to extreme weather, reduce emissions, and support workforce development. 

 

EPA Announces Availability of $20 Million in Grants to Create Career Opportunities in the Water Workforce

On Monday, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the availability of over $20 million in grant funding to support training for workers who protect and treat our nation’s drinking water and provide critical wastewater services. Through the Innovative Water Infrastructure Workforce Development Grant program, EPA will support training and career opportunities in the water sector.
