PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Fertilizer Investment & Expansion for Long-term Domestic Supply (FIELDS) Program supports projects that expand or establish independent domestic fertilizer production capacity to strengthen the U.S. fertilizer supply chain. The program prioritizes fertilizer manufacturing that is:

  • Independent of dominant fertilizer suppliers

  • Made in America 

  • Innovative

  • Energy dominant and secure

  • Farmer focused

Program funding supports projects that significantly increase domestic fertilizer manufacturing capacity and availability, including:

  •  Expansion or modernization of existing facilities

  • Construction of new domestic production facilities

  • Shovel-ready projects capable of rapidly increasing domestic supply

  • On-site fertilizer terminals and transportation infrastructure that improve supply chain efficiency

 

ELIGIBLE PROJECTS

Eligible activities include:

  • Construction of new facilities or acquisition of existing facilities to expand production capacity, including land acquisition

  • Pre-development activities, including engineering and professional services

  • Modernization or expansion of existing facilities, including building modifications and new construction

  • Purchase or modernization of manufacturing equipment

  • Installation of equipment and technology that improves processing, worker conditions, or safety

  • Projects that ensure compliance with packaging, labeling, or occupational safety requirements

 

ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS

Eligible entities include:

  • Tribes and Tribal entities

  • Alaska Native Corporations (ANCs)

  • For-profit entities

  • Corporations

  • Non-profit organizations

  • Producer-owned cooperatives and corporations

  • Certified benefit corporations

  • State and local government entities
