DOE Announces $33 Million to Advance Energy Research Across America

July 26, 2023 | Source: DOE

On Wednesday, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced $33 million to support 14 clean-energy research projects as part of a program to ensure the Department’s research funding is reaching pockets of the country that traditionally have received disproportionally low amounts of Federal scientific funding. The projects will cover a range of topics—including grid integration, renewable solar and wind energy, and advanced manufacturing. The funding will help ensure all regions of the country share in the ownership of priority research that advances science and addresses energy and environmental issues.

DOE Announces $100 Million to Transform Climate Pollution into Sustainable Products

July 24, 2023 | Source: DOE

On Monday, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced it is making $100 million available the Carbon Utilization Procurement Grants program to support states, local governments, and public utilities in purchasing products derived from converted carbon emissions. The program will help offset 50% of the costs to procure and use products developed through the conversion of captured carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide emissions. The goal is to speed up adoption of advanced carbon management technologies, creating a market for environmentally sustainable alternatives in fuels, chemicals, and building products sourced from captured emissions from industrial and power generation facilities.

EPA Announces $58 million to Reduce Lead in Schools and Childcare Facilities

July 24, 2023 | Source: EPA

On Monday, the Environmental Protection Agency announced $58 million in grant funding to protect children from lead in drinking water at schools and childcare facilities across the country. Funded by the BIL, activities that remove sources of lead in drinking water are now, for the first time, eligible to receive funding through the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act (WIIN). This grant funding, which is provided to states, territories, and Tribes, advances the Biden-Harris Administration’s Lead Pipe and Paint Action Plan and unprecedented commitment to delivering clean water for all communities, especially historically marginalized and low-income communities.
